What
Treatments are available?
The following
treatments may help reverse
pelvic organ prolapse:
Softening the stool – By increasing fiber intake, using stool
softeners, prune juice, or flaxseed oil, the stool can be softened to
prevent straining during a bowel movement. Straining can make pelvic organ
prolapse or rectal prolapse much worse, and avoiding straining may help a
prolapse to correct.
Using
moist wipes – With rectal prolapse, the anus may be irritated, so
using moist wipes (such as baby wipes or toddler wipes) can eliminate
irritation and help prevent further irritation. In addition, some
women have had success using paw paw or papaya lotion on the anus
