Prevention of pelvic organ prolapse
Stop
smoking - Chronic coughing adds strain to the walls of the vagina and
the internal organs. Losing weight will reduce this strain
Avoid
straining – By increasing fiber intake, using stool softeners, prune
juice, or flaxseed oil, the stool can be softened to prevent straining
during a bowel movement. Straining can make pelvic organ prolapse or
rectal prolapse much worse, and avoiding straining may help a prolapse to
correct. Leaning forward with a bowel movement can also help prevent undue
strain.
