Rectal prolapse
Rectal
prolapse is the turning out of the rectum through the anus and is not
the same thing as rectocele. Rectal prolapse is not a pelvic prolapse,
but is included here because of similar causes and treatments. A
severe rectal prolapse will protrude out of the body several inches,
while a minor prolapse may stick out just a little with a bowel
movement and then go back in. Rectal prolapse can cause constipation
or difficulty eliminating, and may be accompanied by blood and
irritation of the anus. It is possible to reverse a minor rectal
prolapse with Kegels and avoiding straining while having a bowel
movement. |
